Haunted GHOST SHIP Investigation | Oldest Clipper Ship in the World

by smart

yeah i heard them the footsteps and then i turned around and there was no one there traveling on this as a as a sailing ship it would have been pretty rough or whenever it goes again this thing was swaying like violently we can’t go because this the baby’s downstairs place was also run as a hospital and i swear i heard footsteps above me hi crap keepers thank you so much for tuning into amy’s crypt tonight we have a very unique haunted location to investigate we are aboard the oldest surviving clipper ship in the world this place is also said to be quite haunted so stay tuned the clipper ship residing in port adelaide is the oldest still intact ship of its kind in the world once named after the city of adelaide the ship boasts quite a history and even saw a number of deaths on board the ship was built in 1864. dave captain david bruce from perth in scotland had been sailing out here for 10 years adelaide had developed at such a stage that a lot of wealthy business people wanted to set up businesses here and the only ships coming out here were cargo vessels with very limited accommodation so david had this built with luxury first class accommodation to cater for those rich immigrants who wanted to come out here it was built in sunderland in england it cost about by today’s equivalent three and a half million dollars to build took nine months to build and it’s what they call a composite clipper iron framed cladding timber and there are only four vessels left like that in the world traveling on this as a as a sailing ship it would have been pretty rough coming down across the equator is very calm and placid but once you get down round to the kate around the coast of south africa and come across what they call the roaring forties across the bottom between there and australia high seas icebergs are around at times so you’ve got to watch out where you’re going it would have been by today’s standards pretty pretty abysmal food wise the ship never stopped once it left london it didn’t stop till it got to adelaide david used it for 23 years both his sons john and alexander were captains on board at different stages but after 23 years with the suis canal opening and the steamships were improving sailing ships as a passenger vessel on the australia route were no longer viable steamships could do the trip in six to eight weeks coming through the sewage sailing ships where hatchet come round round the coast of africa would take three months and it was a lot more uncomfortable coming coming by that route david sold the ship and it was used for six years as a timber carrier signing between america and england so not only is it the only ship left in the world that brought settlers to south australia in the 1800s it’s also the only ship left in the world that took part in the timber trade between america and england in the 1800s after six years as a timber carrier it was you southampton the south of us england bought it and they turned it into an isolation hospital at that time there was a cholera scare southampton watered in the middle of the river demastered it and turned it into isolation hospital as an isolation hospital it wasn’t very big it was about 30 beds and in 30 years as an isolation hospital records show they had 277 patients started off with a few cholera patients but seemed to be the majority of them were scarlet fever and one reported case of the plague as well okay 1948 the ship was given to the royal navy volunteer reserves they towed it round onto the clyde river in the middle of glasgow and turned it into an officers club for the navy reserves very well appointed officers club it was we know for a fact that the queen and prince philip were entertained on board at least three times the upkeep became too much for the officers so about 1990 they moved out and the ship was moved around into prince’s dock in glasgow where it sat for a couple of years before it unfortunately sank sat on the bottom of the river for 14 months before they refloated it they carried it up to irvine once again north of glasgow where the scottish maritime museum is and the ship was dry docked there the scottish parliament would only allow money to be spent on ships built in scotland and this had actually been built in sunderland in england so it sat there for a while so after years of negotiations we paid scotland two pound for the vessel it eventually ended up here given the long and at times grisly history of the clipper ship it comes as no surprise to hear that many claim it to be haunted plenty of visitors to the ship and even some of the volunteers who keep it running have claimed to have paranormal experiences on board this includes hearing and even citing the unexplainable there are reports two of them two of the workmen on board say that they’ve seen a woman in a blue crinoline we’ve had children on board whether they’re more aware of what’s going on but there was one young la girl who said she heard a baby crying and all the time she was on board she said she could hear the baby crying until she got off she said we can’t we can’t go because this the baby’s downstairs and there are a couple of people that have said they’ve got photographs of um spirits um i have seen one of them which could possibly be but i’m no authority on that the clipper remains open to the public to this day with tours run by volunteer staff who continue to share the amazing history of the former vessel all visits go towards the restoration efforts working to keep the ship open for future generations but tonight we enter the clipper after dark to see if the rumors are true and if we are able to capture evidence that the ship is indeed haunted all right keepers we are actually aboard the clipper ship now this uh ship was actually called the city of adelaide back in the day so named after where i’m from i love it so much dates back to 1864 when it was built in the uk it was built with the purpose of taking passengers and cargo from london to adelaide so i had a big trip and it made that trip returned 23 times so it’s done a lot of traveling it’s not a lot of miles this ship but it’s absolutely fascinating on board they’re doing a lot of work to restore and rejuvenate this old girl so this place was also run as a hospital for 30 years for infectious diseases such as you know scarlet fever so we actually have a nurse just down here set up in the museum i also got to say highly recommend coming if you guys are in south australia especially around the port adelaide area this place is insanely fascinating so we have this set up and i have to have a proper look at this because it kind of details where [Music] the hospital was was run here and so this was off the coast in southampton and i guess there was different areas you know for the nurses for the patients here now towards the back i have heard a lot of stories about this place being haunted but not heaps of specifics although i did come and visit today during the day did the tour and i did mention this hammock so allegedly on one of their ghost tours here they noted that this hammock was actually swinging and swaying and i haven’t looked at it too much myself but that would be pretty eerie to see this sway [Music] it’s a bit it’s honestly creaky and rickety on here guys so um there’s something tapping up here but it could be wind blowing something it is definitely a windy night tonight it’s windy where we are though is pretty contained in well on this level there’s a couple of levels here so there’s not really wind or airflow coming through that i can feel and it’s windy so i say we’re pretty safe here and to me that also makes the hammock swinging story a little bit more legitimate because if it was breezy and you know open windows everywhere i’d be a little bit more skeptical about the hammock swaying and that being potentially paranormal so that’s that i hope it does sway for us tonight well it’s still swaying from when i last touched it yeah that would be cool yeah i’m gonna try and stop it let’s try to stop it and then we can see if we’ll go off later we bleed wobbly let’s try and stop it and then we’ll see if it goes off again later is that good that’s pretty good no it’s not close enough all right now i do want to take you guys uh downstairs as well because downstairs is probably my favorite part all right guys we’re just heading downstairs into the bottom part or the hold of the ship [Music] all right guys so see what i mean how amazing this area looks this is why it’s my favorite area just because visually it looks very appealing to me sure it’s kind of spooky but it’s also kind of beautiful in a way there’s a lot of okay there’s definite air flow down here because if we look all these kind of portholes and then there’s a lot of gaps in between the wood so i can see water through these gaps here another thing that makes me think why this ship could be active for the paranormal is it’s the ship is on top of a barge which is floating on water in the port and a lot of people do believe that water is a huge conductor for the paranormal so we’re surrounded by water right now maybe these spirits are able to feed off of the energy or it helps them to manifest and show themselves or produce activity for us this area down here though i don’t believe was used so much for transportation of passengers so the two floors above us had first class and second class passengers this was more used for transportation of cargo which things like furniture wheat um iron even livestock animals were kind of kept down here and i have heard stories that possibly some passengers were down here but also that they didn’t really believe that they were whether it was to get some extra money and undocumented i’m not really sure but a lot of the areas of this ship were used for the hospitals not sure if they would have kept sort of patients down here but i think that it is an interesting area all right guys last accessible level of the ship um i don’t think we’ll do too much work up here paranormal wise and you you’ll see why so this was where the first class passengers would have stayed back when the clipper was running passengers between london and adelaide they’re actually so they’re doing so much work here right now you can see a couple of mock cabins set up here so these two boxes these were the first class passengers kind of could have their own private little quarters which i think is fascinating and really cool that they’re getting these kind of rebuilt uh but yeah looking down here this is a huge work zone i feel like i’m on a construction site right now so i don’t think we’ll do too much work up here but maybe we’ll set up a still camera or an sls or something to monitor the area because i’m not sure exactly where the most active areas of the ship would be [Music] [Music] you guys know the drill i just hit record on a ghost tube session this is an app jared and i created ourselves available for free on apple and android links are below check it out uh now we’re just getting started with the investigation uh first thing we have done is set up some trigger objects uh slash equipment here i have a capital it’s basically a motion sensor so jared did you not turn that off actually this flashed earlier didn’t it it did yeah that’s so weird while it was setting up that it didn’t turn on when i picked it up anyway so i’ve put that near some cigarettes maybe there’s someone around who likes tobacco feel free to come over here touching this can show us that that’s something that you like all right and back here i keep thinking these mannequins are people they just said c c really as in c ocean wow okay first relevant word for tonight that’s cool thank you if there’s somebody here my name is amy and i’m here with jared and thank you for welcoming us on board okay just had a magnetic fluctuation here that’s cool right near our other goodie did i turn this one on yeah so this is just lollies and chocolates that we’ve bought here for you and if you touch this little ball with the lollies and and chocolates that will let us know that you like them and maybe we’ll leave them here for you so if you want some sweets don’t be shy now the reason i kind of wanted to focus down here a little bit is we do have the hammock this is what you know people reported to be swaying whether it’s paranormal i’m not sure i have set up the brampod on the floor so if there’s anyone here listening this strange looking thing with the red light it can’t hurt you if you go close to it that will again tell us that you’re around and that you want to communicate that you want to talk and i’ve left a little bottle of little sip of brandy down here for you sailors like brandy right i thought they like rum rum maybe oh well we’ve only got brandy oh i’m just thinking of the song brandy she’s a fan girl i think of sailors when i think of that song i guess it has nothing to do with a drink but if there is anyone around and you like a drink you like to tobacco did you hear that yeah i did thank you so much so you like the sweets you like to tobacco you like to tobacco you like to tobacco so i don’t have bang home sort of relevant because a lot of people would have been getting a ship home or if there is a spirit here and they have been here since i don’t know the late mid to late 1800s would it not feel like home by now surely do you live here is this your home that noise there’s different to the one i heard earlier but that’s something blowing in the wind i think it’s yeah i am hearing very consistent taps but i heard another noise down here before one more one port port port we are in port adelaide so we’ve had stocked at a port we’ve had sea port and home yep they’re really relevant thank you so much if there’s someone trying to communicate if you come close to my hand maybe you can tell me your name it sounds like someone coming down the stairs and didn’t it yeah thing about this ship is it’s really like creaky yeah i mean looking around just look at this wall if i look at this i think that it would not recently not recently okay was there someone here who touched this i’m gonna step away from the hammock so someone here who touched this hammock recently are you able to touch it for us tonight very good [Music] [Music] no [Music] so can you give the hammock a little push for us i know that’s a lot to ask and we only just met is it swaying i feel like it is actually it actually is ever so slightly ever so slightly maybe it does just do that i hate it i mean a little bit more we are on a barge that’s the other thing yes so the ship itself is on a barge that floats on water so we’re we’re docked is that the correct term yeah so it’s not like we’re just floating around in the sea but i guess there could be you said that earlier today when we were on the tour during the day jared said he could feel it moving yeah i could i would really love to know your name one of the volunteers today they were saying that during the investigation that they had attended this thing was swaying like violently which is pretty cool that is pretty cool hopefully we get some swinging tonight because i mean it’s slowly moving i think the flags behind it are moving no the uh the blue flags yeah i don’t know i can’t really see them moving but that just sounds like there’s someone that they’re knocking yeah can you knock for me three times i just i just feel like getting down here i don’t know if there’s children here my name is amy and i’m here with jared and we’re looking for new friends can you give us a sign if you want to play what’s that that was like right from that second mannequin medic with the red dress that’s the thing about like this that’s the thing about this ship like because it’s like really old and it’s docked like there are lots of creaks there are lots of noises yeah and it’s hard to say which ones are caused by that and which ones are unexplained but it is really creepy regardless yeah should we go lights out for a quick second all right so we’re in the dark now yeah just listen is there someone here who can share their name with me did you like those sweets that we left on the table as well as noises on the ship coming from this actual structure there is a decent amount of noise around us as well so port our light’s quite loud there’s a highway here we had a freight train pass through while we’re trying to do an interview a couple of ships you know it’s always noisy and it is a particularly windy night as well yeah you know what i say we go we try to do a spirit box because that’s gonna distract us from any other noise you know what i mean yeah [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] so oh that catboy’s gone off fames oh is that yeah the one near the cigarettes again that went off earlier when we’re setting up yep we have a sweet tooth and a smoker oh there it goes again okay thank you for someone down here all right so we’re keeping the lights off i can see pretty well though there’s a decent amount of light in here so we’re not fully in pitch black but it’s still spooky because it’s like you can just see things like mannequins around you now i’m gonna reach out the spirit box basically it’s just gonna sweep through radio stations uh i’m gonna be listening for voices that come over the over the top of the sweeps so if anyone is here i’m gonna put on a device which can be quite noisy but please don’t be scared of it can’t hurt you in any way don’t feel free to come up close to me maybe you can use this to project your voice and help you talk i’d love to know your name or just to say hello okay i can hear little pitter patters of rain yeah me too sorry [Music] that’s how different we can interpret all right back and see who’s right yes thank you so much if you’re setting off that ball what is it that you like about that ball [Music] so again my name is amy and i’m here with jared tonight if anyone is around can you show your name can you tell me where i’m standing that noise again is that just the wind [Music] what is the name of this ship [Music] so can you tell me where you departed from so i think up in this area they kept the animals can you tell me what’s at the top of this staircase please there any children here maybe there’s a woman in a blue dress [Music] they did sound like a female voice then but the clearest word we’ve had was the very first one the second i turn this on [Music] i feel like i heard stairs are you able to share your name with me [Music] are you up there can you tell me please that’s rain but i heard footsteps on these stairs and i didn’t want to say it but like wild wilderness i swear when i walk past this staircase i heard like a voice and so i could be like panned up there to see what was up there can i tell you something actually today we came through on the ship in the day and i swear i heard footsteps above me and it sounded very distinct someone walking above me but i didn’t want to say anything because we were with the lady who was kind of showing us around giving the tour and i don’t know if she didn’t notice or i don’t even know if you noticed jared i just heard it very distinct and at that time we were on the ship by ourselves now a little bit later maybe half hour later another group of people rocked up and they were having a tour around so we were on the ship at the same time and i heard their footsteps above me and it sounded the exact same so i feel like it wasn’t so much a ship noise but it actually sounded like footsteps whether it was paranormal or just you know one of these many noises we’re hearing yeah it sounded really eerie so what did you hear jared so i was holding the camera like this so he’d see the staircase here yeah amy walked in and i was following him like this and she was on the spirit box and i came around here like this and as i came past the stairwell i thought i heard male voice talking right and i didn’t want to because we were filming the spirit box i don’t want to interrupt that so i kept filming amy but then about 30 seconds later i was like nah i reckon i heard it so i came over here you’ll see i actually come over here to check to see if there’s anything there there’s none there now you’ve got yeah the spirit box going which you know generates voices in that sorry but it sounds like it wasn’t coming from the spirit box because you were a few meters ahead of me it sounded like it came right from here this area we’ll have to review and see [Music] the voice or did you hear a different noise up here voice at first and then while i was filming over here when i cut you off when you were doing the spirit box and i said last stopped up for a sec i swear it was like footsteps coming down this deck i saw around this area we do have a couple of volunteers that are here with us not here in this part but just right now but you know yeah making sure we don’t get up to mischief and actually i thought they were walking towards us yeah you thought that as well i did yeah i thought they were walking up and i was like oh should we stop filming and then turn around no one there i don’t know i wish we could go up here but there’s some pieces missing in the floor i hear a seagull how authentic yeah i am there’s definitely like when like you can hear the wind noise in the rain and they’re like that’s and you can hear something over here that constantly rattling yeah which is sort of maybe contaminating this it’s going to make it hard you know oh so just to take her seriously but i really did hear it right here interesting this place is really cool though it’s so cool yeah [Music] [Music] [Music] this is swaying now lady a lady say that they’ve seen a woman in a blue crinoline i thought that this was moving let’s go down below i am hearing noises and bangs down there swing people have supposedly been touched in here so you’re all right could hear a baby crying constantly can you follow my voice and walk towards me thank you guys so much for
