now we’re really excited about bringing this rev up portion of team development to a close and you know players get an off day we come back we go over to heinz field and that really kind of signifies the start of training camp if you will so we’re gonna turn the volume up man we’re gonna have an opportunity on wednesday to perform in front of in front of fans we’re excited about that element of the training camp process we’re excited about having an opportunity to put pads on but make no mistake we got a lot of good work done out here laid some foundational things established some some codes of conduct if you will familiarize them with the schedule and how we work not only on the field but in the classroom and so um good use of that time guys had an opportunity to learn and display that learning and make some plays and uh we look forward to that continue and expect it to happy to address any questions you might have coach it looks like we can characterize them as day to day ask me again tomorrow well then the next day coach it looks like you guys ran thank you i mean that’s something you guys really haven’t done with playbacks but we’ve seen teams like the organization aside from just the traditional power blocking to really open up your offensive misdirection and stuff like that i think when you talk about today’s fullback i think it starts additionally with special teams because you use a lot of different personnel groups they don’t play as much as they used to and you know that’s the hidden value of derek white and that’s what’s not talked about enough regarding derek watt he’s our full back and we utilize them and we could talk about whether or not we choose to throw them the ball or use them on lead blocks and so forth but he’s a core component of our special teams unit that didn’t want to miss that point as well to be determined i mean it’s only a short sample size but how is straight turner i think he fits in well uh he’s a football lover um he’s a veteran guy at a group and i’ve asked him to provide um that guidance for young people if you will even though he’s new to us and he embraces that uh we’re excited to have him what’s the importance of that intangible to have that kind of veteran guy in the room you know i just asked those guys to be themselves and and he’s a guy that brings experience seven years of pro experience i think he’s a five-time pro bowler it’d be selfish for him not to share that perspective mike we haven’t seen zach banner do much since the first day did he have a setback or is that just precaution no no setbacks man we’re excited about where he is and we’ll just keep moving forward with this process and you know some of the guys that maybe you guys have had questions about regarding participation it’ll pick up as we transition to the stadium coach had a really nice starting point what have been your impressions you know he’s working hard he’s on the details but as are some others man i’m pleased with naji and what he’s doing as well um you know they’ll they’ll continue to write their stories obviously football and shorts we don’t put a lot of stake in as we put the pads on man we’re excited to see what they bring mike next week i know you probably talked for days about him can you sum up his career man spectacular you know gold jacket worthy it makes you smile man because it just you know you think back to stories you get an opportunity to share some of those stories with the guys that play here now and i think that’s what you think about when you think about those guys are going to be honored in canton man just the great standard bearers that they are not only in terms of their play but what it means to be a stealer the way they embraced that and represented us in this community the way they played the game the way they lived their lives i think troy exemplifies all of that is there anything that ever stood out to you that another guy could ever replicate what he does man they better just be themselves man and i’m sure troy would tell them that um be their best selves what was your relationship with him off the field very natural you know he is a deep guy but also a very warm and welcoming guy man we had good talks about football and about life you know like a lot of these relationships it was very normal
